Who we are
Vigilant Life Support Training Academy (VLS) provides healthcare training in Menifee, California. This policy applies to the VLS website and the student portal at courses.vlstrainingacademy.com. It describes information we receive when you visit, contact us, or use the reviewer pilot portal.
Information we collect
- Inquiries: your name, contact details, and the details you choose to include when you email or text us about a class.
- Student account and training records: account identifier and email from sign-in; your legal name, credential type and California certificate number; selected courses, module progress and active learning time; post-test scores and attempt dates; signed student affidavits; messages sent through the portal; and certificate previews.
- Technical information: information needed to operate and protect the sites, such as browser and device details, IP address, request logs, and authentication or session information.
Please do not include patient information or other sensitive personal details in portal messages or class inquiries. The website and portal currently do not take online payments or collect card numbers.
How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries, provide access to training materials, identify learners, record participation and assessment results, prepare training records and sample certificates, support students, maintain and troubleshoot the sites, protect accounts, and meet applicable recordkeeping or legal duties. The online portal remains a reviewer pilot and does not currently award online CE credit.
When information is shared
We may share information with providers that host and operate the website, authentication, email, and student portal, only as needed to provide those services. Authorized VLS staff and, when necessary, authorized program reviewers may access training records. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the service and its users. We do not currently sell student profile or course record information or use it for cross-site advertising.
If you open an optional video or other third-party link, that provider may collect information under its own policy. Messages sent by email or SMS also pass through your email or phone service provider.
Cookies and security
Authentication and hosting services may use cookies or similar storage to keep sessions working, remember essential settings, and protect the sites. We use access controls for student records and HTTPS for site traffic. No internet service can promise absolute security; please keep your sign-in details private and contact us if you notice unauthorized access.
Retention and your choices
We keep student and course records for as long as needed to administer training, respond to questions, and satisfy applicable recordkeeping obligations. Other information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected. You may request access to or correction or deletion of your information by emailing us. Some training records may need to be kept when law or program rules require it. You can avoid optional third-party videos and can manage cookies in your browser, although blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in.
California privacy requests
California residents may have rights under applicable privacy law to know about, access, correct, or delete personal information and to limit certain uses or disclosures. We will not discriminate against you for making an applicable privacy request. Email support@vlstrainingacademy.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line; we may need to verify your identity before responding. Authorized agents may contact us through the same address.
Children and updates
Our training and student portal are intended for adult learners and are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child submitted personal information, contact us. We may update this policy as our services change; the effective date above will show when this version took effect.
